BEYOND YOUR IMAGINATIONS

Whirlpool Galaxy

MESSIER 51

The Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as Messier 51 (M51), is a stunning spiral galaxy located about 23 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.

It is sometimes referred to as the "Rosette of the Sky" because of its beautiful and symmetrical spiral arms, reminiscent of a flower's petals.

Milky Way

MILKY WAY

The Milky Way is the galaxy containing our Solar System. It appears as a faint, milky band of light across the night sky. he Milky Way is on a collision course with the Andromeda Galaxy!

In about 4.5 billion years, the Milky Way and Andromeda will collide and merge, forming a massive elliptical galaxy.

IC 1101

IC 1101

IC 1101 serves as an example of how massive galaxies can become. It is a key object of study for understanding galaxy evolution. It spans about 6 million light-years in diameter.

It is nearly 60 times larger than the Milky Way! It's located about 1 billion light-years away from Earth in the constellation Virgo.

Messier 87

MESSIER 87

M87 is home to a supermassive black hole that became famous when the first-ever image of a black hole was captured in 2019.

This black hole, located at the center of M87, has a mass around 6.5 billion times that of our Sun! The black hole is located about 53 million light-years from Earth in the Virgo Cluster.

Andromeda

ANDROMEDA

ndromeda (M31) is the largest galaxy in the Local Group of galaxies, which includes the Milky Way, the Triangulum Galaxy, and about 54 other smaller galaxies.

It's located about 2.5 million light-years from Earth and is on a collision course with our galaxy!

TYPE OF GALAXIES

Spiral Galaxies

Spiral galaxies have a flat, rotating disk of stars, gas, and dust, with a central concentration of stars known as the bulge. The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy.

Elliptical Galaxies

Elliptical galaxies have a smooth, featureless light distribution, ranging from nearly spherical to more elongated shapes.

Dwarf Galaxies

Dwarf galaxies are small galaxies with a much lower luminosity than larger galaxies like the Milky Way.

Irregular Galaxies

Irregular galaxies lack a clear shape and are often the result of collisions between galaxies.

Lenticular Galaxies

Lenticular galaxies are disk-shaped like spiral galaxies but without the spiral arms.

Peculiar Galaxies

Peculiar galaxies have unusual shapes often resulting from galactic interactions.
